The New Activities of Visegrad University Association for 2015 year offered for SGGW

The General Meeting of Visegrad University Association was held for the fourth time at Corvinus University of Budapest in Hungary on September 18-20, 2014. The meeting was attended by 39 representatives of 19 VUA member universities. SGGW was represented by dr Agata Malak-Rawlikowska – Dean’s Plenipotentiary for International Scientific Programs, Faculty of Economic Sciences.

During the meeting President of VUA, Prof. Peter Bielik, evaluated the activities and achievements of the last year in his welcome address. During the three year existence, VUA has managed to organize successful summer schools, doctoral symposium, publish academic journal Visegrad Journal of Bioeconomy and Sustainable Development or create a platform for young members, VUA Youth.

Prof. Bielik also introduced new activities for upcoming 2015 year, which are:

II Visegrad Doctoral Conference (Russia) – June 2015, Russian State Agrarian University – Moscow Timiryazev Academy. Call for applicants will be in February 2015.

III VUA Summer School „Food science and Business Studies” – (Nitra-Budapest-Vienna)  titled: “Inputs for Food Product Design and Development: Quality, Safety, Innovationa, Sensory and Consumer Analysis”. Call for aplicants – in March 2015

Duration of the summers school – 2 weeks in three locations: 22-28.06.2015 – Nitra Słowacja, 28.06-01.07.2015 Budapest, Hungary, 01-04.07.2015 Vienna, Austria.

I Visegrad Conference „The Knowledge Based Bio-Economy and Sustainable Development: Achievments and Challenges for 21st Century”. Zagreb, Croatia. Information – beginning of 2015.

VUA Training program „Young Innovation Brokers for Visegrad Countries” 2-7 February 2015, Hungary. Project for students and doctorants – more informatuion of the poster below. Deadline for application 30 November 2014.

For the first time the VUA Award of Excellence was awarded to the most active member university in 2014. The Executive Committee confirmed the winner of the award, the University of Agriculture in Krakow, Poland, represented by Rector, Prof. Włodzimierz Sady.

VUA Association is developing every year and already has 52 members from 23 countries. This time two new universities have joined VUA. Chuvash State Agricultural Academy, Russia represented by Rector Prof. Liudmila Linik and Vinnytsia National Agrarian University, Ukraine represented by Vice-rector Prof. Olena Prutska were registered and approved as full VUA members.

Association has also agreed on the next General Meeting, which will be held in September 2015 at the Faculty of Economic Sciences, Warsaw University of Life Sciences – SGGW in Poland,
